Back To Vanlife… For Now

They say the more things change, the more they stay the same. That definitely rings true, in some ways, right now. As I write this I am sitting in my van along a noisy street, tucked neatly into my van. Curtains drawn and top popped, I ready for my first night of being back in the van. It’s different this time, this time it’s in Portland, where I have lived off and on for the last 13 years. It’s out front of a small garage that I am currently building out into, more or less, a tiny home. A dry cabin to be more accurate.

Today I put up a couple sheets of sheetrock up, reinstalled a solar panel atop the van, and did the final load from the last space. All after working a full day at the new job. It’s been a long day.

While I don’t look forward to, what surely will be a sleepless night, I’m fairly excited about the new space and significantly shorter commute. I won’t lie, I also am excited to be back in the van – it has a way if making the normal more exciting.
